Eating buffet could be a great way to taste a lot of food in one sitting, without breaking the bank. We can feed our greed and call it a treat. The Fort has no shortage of buffet places, but recently, there are two new buffet places that offer a unique buffet experience.

Isla Sugbu Seafood City

2/F, Venice Grand Canal Mall, McKinley Hill

+63 998 9662 990

Located on the second floor of the most romantic mall in the Philippines, this restaurant offers live seafood as well as fresh seafood that you can eat at a fixed price.  It is a paluto style of restaurant, so you have to first pick your seafood and then ask them to cook for you. The restaurant is new and spacious.

It has fish and shellfish like shrimp and crabs. You can have it cooked in different ways, like steam, fried, in batter and so on.

Price: currently, which they say is still on soft opening, it charges Php848 per head for lunch on weekdays (Mondays to Thursdays, 11AM to 3PM) and Php888 per head for dinner (Mondays to Thursdays, 6PM to 11PM) and all day on weekends. The regular price is said to be P1,300, but we do not know when that will happen.

More expensive seafood like lobsters have additional charges.

Photo above: Choose your fresh seafood, then tell them how you would like it cooked.

Photo: It is a fact that the fresher the ingredient, the better the taste. Thus the need for tanks for keeping live seafood. They are more expensive, though.

Six Door BBQ Buffet

2/F, Uptown Place Mall, 36th Street corner 9th Avenue, BGC, The Fort

+63 967 2819 403

It is not your usual buffet place, as in addition to food, they have a kid's play area and a performing stage.

And their buffet also has a twist. You can cook your own food. That's right, apart from the cooked items which you can just pick up and eat, they have raw food like pork and chicken meat that you can grill at your table, so that you feel less guilty about eating so much food. You actually have to work for your food! We saw diners cooking big shrimps, pork and other protein.

They have a Japanese food counter, and a western grilled meat counter. This place is meat-eater's paradise.

It has so many new elements that you have to see it to appreciate it.

Price: during weekday lunch, it charges Php859 per person.  For weekday dinners, holidays, and weekends, it costs Php 999 per head. Kids 3ft and below are free, while 3ft-4ft costs Php 399 during weekday lunch and Php599 during weekday dinners, weekends, and holidays. Senior Citizens (75 years old and above) can happily enjoy a 50% discount.

Photo: One of the six private rooms is shown here at the end of the hall, where the red door is.

Why is it called Six Doors?

Because it has six private rooms, and in the rooms, they can do a 3D food show for you. We have no idea what that is like, but it certainly sounds less boring than just eating.

Photo: the restaurant has a cute mascot, and a huge screen that displays a fake water tank.
