Fort Bonifacio is a go-to place for people who love all different kinds of liquors. No wonder a lot of events like liquor tasting, cocktail parties, bartending competitions are held here. Coming soon to our doorstep is an event for people who love whisky, namely, Whisky Live Manila.

Last September 20, the media kickoff of Whisky Live Manila 2017 took place in The Brewery at The Palace. The event was graced by whisky connoisseur, Johnssen Li, who taught the attendees the enduring process of whisky making - from grain to bottle. He also spoke about how to maximize the taste of each glass of whisky using several of our senses. First, we should use our sense of sight and observe the hue of the whisky we are holding. This allows us to identify how and where it was blended and distilled. Second, using our sense of touch we warm the glass to ensure that the molecules will soften and expand. Lastly, through the use of our sense of smell, while gently swirling the liquor, we take a whiff of our glass of whisky. Whiskies emit different aromas such as woody, fruity, peaty, and floral. He also gave us a glimpse of one of his prized whisky, the Kavalan. It was declared the best whisky back in 2016.

At the end of the program, he disclosed a few details of what to expect at this year's Whisky Live event to be held at Shangri-La at the Fort. The venue will be bigger since Ballrooms A, B, and C of Shangri-La at The Fort will be used. Aside from that, the whisky cocktail competition will keep its judges a secret this year to ensure that all cocktail mix that each contestant will make is of top-notch quality.
